The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has launched a new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered registration portal designed to speed up business registration in Nigeria.
According to NAN, Hussaini Magaji, registrar-general of the CAC, announced the development on Tuesday at the commission’s 2025 Stakeholders Forum in Port Harcourt.
Magaji said the new platform allows for instant name reservations, automated business name suggestions, and same-day registration using only a national identification number (NIN).
“Another innovation, is the ability to register a business using only the National Identification Number (NIN) of a director or proprietor,” he said.

The registrar-general added that the commission is targeting a 30-minute window for completing registration and generating certificates, subject to real-time NIN validation.
To address potential delays caused by identity verification from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Magaji said CAC has introduced an AI-powered photo ID matching feature.
He also said the commission is working on new security layers, including two-factor authentication and OTP verification, to prevent unauthorised access to company records.

Also, he said the commission is expanding collaboration with private sector players and has received over 100 super agent applications, including submissions from outside the country.
The registrar-general listed the Nigerian Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) as one of the potential partners under review.
As part of ongoing reforms, Magaji said the CAC would review certain service fees from August 1 to support the new digital infrastructure and sustain service quality.
